Partey injury update as Arsenal recieve news on Brentford availability

Mikel Arteta was frustrated to lose key midfielder Thomas Partey to injury. Some suggestions led to a timeframe of up to 6 weeks thanks to the incident. However, there has been some positive news.

This morning CBS reporter and former Arsenal correspondent for James Benge revealed that the injury to Partey was not as bad as first feared. However, did confirm he would likely be unavailable for the match with Brentford on the opening day.

‘Early indications on Partey’s injury are that he’s likely to miss Arsenal’s opening game against Brentford. However there is optimism that the ankle injury is not as bad as it might have been,’ wrote Benge.

The question now will be who starts in midfield for Arsenal. Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny are the long-serving options for Arteta but new signing Sambi Lokonga has impressed since joining from Anderlecht and could be chosen to start in the Ghanaian’s absence.
